News September 29th 2017

Hiya all,

Stephy and I are at the end of, what has been, a longish road trip in the Southern States and are on our way home now. It’s been a marvellous journey with lots of interesting visits. We flew to Atlanta and, from there, drove anti-clockwise through Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississsippi, Louisiana and Alabama before going back to Atlanta to fly back to London then to Glasgow. There was music and there are songs both finished and work-in-progress.

This is the reason the Bandcamp store has been closed as there was no practical way to service any sales within acceptable time-frames.

The website store has now re-opened Today, Friday 29th September. Everything is now available again at  .

Most importantly that means the following:-

The ‘Bridging the Gaps’ CD package is now available in the shop at

It contains the 1972 album ‘Rab Noakes’ on A&M, 1978’s ‘Restless’ on Ring O’Records and the 1980 album ‘Rab Noakes’ on MCA. It’s all the original album tracks plus some bonus songs. They include a b-side which didn’t feature on an album, a version specially recorded for a single, an out-take, a rehearsal recording and a version edited and mixed for a single.

All three LPs are placed chronologically on this double-CD which totals 37 tracks.

It is, to my mind, reasonably priced at £9.99 for download (full album only) and £14.99 + P&P for CDs.

I have had quite a bit of interest in this record. The official release date is October 6th.

So, get this now for pre-release possession.

Here’s a bit of news:-

Earlier in September I received an email Newsletter from Simon Thoumire. I’ve known of this for a wee while and I’m delighted it’s now public. Here’s a paragraph from the message as the 2017 inductees to the Hands up for Trad Hall Hall of Fame are announced:-

“One of the best-known faces in comedy the world over, Billy Connolly, is joined by singer-songwriter Rab Noakes, Bobby Crowe and Cathy Ann MacPhee in the Performers category, alongside Jock Tamson’s Bairns and Kenneth McKellar.”

I’m greatly honoured to be included and excited to be in such illustrious company.     Here’s the link:-
