News September 1st 2016

Hiya all

Welcome to September

August was an interesting month of music outings for us. They began on the 4th with a Highlands and Islands trip which encompassed Belladrum Festival, Beauly; Ceilidh Place, Ullapool and the Community Hall in Uig, Isle of Lewis. The shows were good and it’s always good to see our long-term friends who reside in, and visit, these far-flung places.

On Sunday 14th it was my Edinburgh Festival Fringe show at Acoustic Music Centre St Brides. That too went well. I featured a few new songs, including one for Robin McKidd, ‘A voice over my shoulder’ plus three from The Treatment Tapes EP. One of these, the love song, ‘I always will’, had its first public outing. That was well-received and overall the show went well, I’m glad to say, attracting a lot of favourable comment.

Not least from Chris Bartter:-

My other Festivals outing was with the mighty ‘Grit’ Orchestra at The Playhouse. It was something of a triumph and a joy to be part of. Here are a coupla reviews:-

Things go quiet for a wee while now with only one more public show to come in 2016. It has a special edge for me as it’s in my home-town of Cupar in Fife, at Watts, on Saturday October 15th.

Stephy, John Cavanagh and I have spent a further couple of afternoons together working on The Treatment Tapes EP. To the existing live tracks we’ve added some percussion with Stuart Brown. We’ve also added double-bass, courtesy of Una McGlone, oboe, courtesy of Anne Rankin and

’cello, courtesy of Atzi Muramatsu.

We’ve also been working with the artist, David Mach on artwork.  Well, he’s been doing most of the work and we, that is Stephy and I, think it’s just great.

It’s looking like it’ll have an official release date in January but we’re on course to have it available through the www.rabnoakes.com/shop site in November.

Here’s an updated list of all forthcoming dates
