News November 1st 2016

Hiya all

Welcome to November

October had only one public show. It had a special edge for me as it was in my home-town of Cupar in Fife, at Watt’s, on Saturday October 15th. I’m delighted to report it was sold out and was a highly rewarding experience for me, playing to a terrific crowd. Thanks to all involved.

Now it’s time to start looking forward to some of the things that’ll be going on in 2017,

As I mentioned before, I reach the age of 70 and mark 50 years since my first properly-billed, professional performance. These events are both in May but anniversary-related appearances, which will carry on throughout the year, kick off in earnest early in 2017 with a major show in Glasgow.

This show can now be confirmed as a part of Celtic Connections and will be at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket on Thursday February 2nd.

Here I’ll be joined by a hand-picked gathering of people I’ve been collaborating with, in one way or another, recently. We’ll have  Stuart Brown on drums, Jill Jackson on guitars and vocals, Kathleen MacInnes on vocals, Una McGlone  on double-bass, Lisbee Stainton on vocals and other instruments, Innes Watson on fiddle, vocals and other instruments.

The repertoire will form a narrative based around landmark songs, old and new.

As I’ve mentioned before, there’ll soon be a release of new material, a half-dozen songs triggered by the experience of 2015’s health issues.

The Treatment Tapes EP went off to manufacture on Friday 28th October.

Its release date will be 20th January but copies will be available at www.rabnoakes.com

as soon as they’re with us, certainly by the end of November. It’ll be £7.99 + p&p.
