Hiya all
As we enter the second half of July here’s a Rab Noakes news update.
I’ll start with a reminder of a couple of shows happening later in the month.
One is at The Byre in The Botanics in St Andrews on Friday 22nd. This one is a duo show with Barbara Dickson and me.
The second one is at WOMAD on July 29th. It’s a performance of Greg Lawson’s bold and successfully imaginative orchestral arrangement of Martyn Bennett’s ‘Grit’. This’ll be an interesting excursion, on the road with a full orchestra plus. A travelling band in coaches, maybe there’ll be some communal singing en route. Probably not ‘The Wild West Show’ though.
Booking details for each of them are on the gig list.
Looking ahead to August, there’ll be an International Festival outing for ‘Grit’ at The Playhouse on August 23rd. I’ll be doing a solo Fringe show at Acoustic Music Centre on Sunday August 14th. I’ve played this on a few times now and it’s always pretty good. I had to miss last year’s so this year’ll be a specially-constructed set mixing old songs and new songs.
There’ve been a few more, continually enjoyable, house-concerts since the last newsletter.
If you’re interested in one, please contact Stephy at stephyneon@gmail.com
She’ll tell you how it all works and will book it.

The Treatment Tapes project is ongoing and I’ll now be pressing CDs when the completion, mixing and mastering and artwork is done. I’ll have some firmer dates to report soon. October’s in our sights for now.
Still available on a BBC site is an edition of The Quay Sessions I recorded on Tuesday 31st May. It was broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland on Thursday 2nd June. Mairearad Green occupies the first hour, then it’s me in the second hour.
I’m joined by Jill Jackson on three songs, as we did together on the album, ‘I’m walkin’ here’.
Host Roddy Hart, who also sang on the record, joins me on one. Listen to it on iPlayer.
They film the whole thing and clips are available at:-

Also, I’ll keep a reminder here for this wee thing. I recently contributed a guest blog to the Glasgow City Music Tours site.
