Happy New Year to you all
Here’s wishing all the best to all of you for 2016.
Here’s a reminder that this year’s seasonal offer involves Red Pump Special – 40th anniversary edition.
The CD is available at www.rabnoakes.com/shop at the knock-down price of a fiver (£5).
The offer’s open until Friday 22nd January.
Following that, in January, there’ll be some stock-clearance bargains as we slash the prices of a few CDs.
They’ll be the multi-artist Woody Lives and People on the Highway. Macalias’ highwired as well as John Watt’s Heroes.
All these albums featured Rab in one capacity or another, either as contributor or producer.
Here’s another January date for your diary. I’ll be a live guest on Weekend Wogan on BBC Radio2
on Sunday 17th. It’s on air from 1100-1300. That’ll be a couple of songs and a chat with Terry.
In 2015 I was delighted to have been invited to contribute, in some illustrious company, to a couple of high-grade publications.
They are worth a look:-
I’m currently looking forward to an event that’ll be part of Celtic Connections 2016.
It coincides with the release of an academic history of the Musicians’ Union, written by Doctors Cloonan and Williamson at Glasgow University. There will a two-day seminar at the Mitchell Library on January 14th/15th and this is capped by the concert at St Andrews in the Square on the night of Friday15th.
The show is essentially a celebration of the MU in Glasgow and a most interesting, diverse cast-list is emerging.
It’ll be good to see you there.
I’ll be curator, performer and compere.
Hilary and Lorna Brooks – the celebrated sister act with great songs, great vocals, piano and guitar.
Dave Arcari – a hugely popular exponent of Real Messed-up Alt Blues. The Whistlebinkies – a highly accomplished, long-standing Scottish folk group.
Bill Sweeney – a first-class composer/performer.
Diljeet Bhachu and Alex Gascoine – Flute and violin par excellence in a new combination.
Fraser Speirs – world-class harmonica virtuoso.
As guests from further afield, we have Zervas & Pepper. Paul Zervas and Kath Pepper are a terrific duo from Wales with great songs’n’harmonies.
Here’s a reminder I’ll be playing some dates in the south in March (see below) and wouldn’t mind a few more in that period. Martin Peirson at Adastra is booking it – firstname.lastname@example.org.
